An Introduction
A little about Sarah
Many couples choose a celebrant who holds the same values or has points of commonality, it can make the relationship- building easier and more fun between couple and celebrant. Here is a snapshot of me and I hope to get to know you more too!
I am a mum of two young boys who are adventurous, playful, mischievous and energetic. We love going on bushwalks, ice skating and playing Fireman Sam together as a family. Our first- born however is our Airedale Terrier, Wicket, he could also be described in the same way as my other kids. My family is all based in the Canada Bay/Inner West areas.
My husband and I were married in 2013, in a fun outdoor 50s- inspired wedding on the harbour, with records playing all nights with lots of drinks and food and more drinks consumed. This experience really paved the way for me to believe that weddings should be all you; you can arrive looking like yourselves, provide a place where guests feel comfortable to be themselves and have the ceremony reflect yourselves with movie quotes, themes, your mates speaking, your story being told and you as a couple connecting with your guests.
I worked managing pubs and clubs for over 10 years and this background in the hospitality industry really helps me view a wedding from all sides: the event and its flow, going above the expectation of the guests and, of course, satisfying all the wants and needs and of the happy couple through good conversations and the exchange of ideas.
This leads on to why I became a Celebrant. I love connecting with people ... meeting people, hearing their stories, sharing in their joy is what kept me in hospitality for so long and what drove me to do this. I was managing venues on Oxford Street, Sydney and hold strong ties to the LGBTQIA communities from working at the Colombian, the Oxford and The Beresford and the second the YES vote came through I knew what I had to do! I completed my course and was marrying couples a few months later.
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
